Jeremy Renner Will Be Back As Arron Cross In The Bourne Franchise.
Universal Pictures confirmed today that they will be moving forward with the Bourne Franchise and Jeremy Renner will remain their man. Aaron Cross will be back and kicking some more ass.
Producer Frank Marshall told Comingsoon.net today that,”We’re gonna follow Jeremy’s character,” adding, “Everything else is wide open. That’s the great thing about this now. The table is set to go any direction we want to. But we will, I’m sure, follow Jeremy and see what happens. Jeremy and Rachel [Weisz].”
It’s true The Bourne Legacy Franchise was a little up in the air. Its not that The Bourne Legacy was a financial failure, it just didn’t stack up box office gross wise to the last two Bourne films starring Matt Damon. I would argue that was to be expected. Matt Damon’s lowest grossing Bourne film was his first. We didn’t know the character, but once the film hit DVD, everyone realized he was great and the anticipation for the second film was large and the film went on to make tons of money. I expect the same thing to happen here with Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross. Once this film hits VOD, and DVD/BluRay and everyone gets to see Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy, they will be intrigued by a sequel.
Granted Tony Gilroy muddled some of the action scenes and the script had faults, but I expect Jeremy Renner to have more say in the sequel and I think it will be a better film. Lets all hope Jeremy Renner can talk Matt Damon out of Bourne retirement. Could you imagine a Bourne film with those two guys!? Oh my… That film would do $500 million world wide. But regardless, I’ll be happy with more Aaron Cross!
